Professor of Aquatic Physiology Head of Sustainable Aquaculture group

Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences 1997 - 2003. Member of the Scottish Deans of Science and Engineering Committee. Editor of the key Wiley-Blackwell journal Aquaculture Research.

Lindsay has almost 50 years of experience in tropical and temperate aquaculture and has published over 300 articles in his various fields of interest.Current research interests are focused on: Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing for Spatial Planning and Management of Aquaculture. Investigation of indigenous species for Aquaculture development in Latin America. Biodiversity, Climate Change and Aquaculture. Biology and physiology of warm water cultured fish and shrimp. With a long term focus on physiology and biology of cultured animals, including tilapias, carps, salmonids, atherinids and crustaceans, at the whole animal level, Lindsay is principal author of the only reference work on anaesthesia and sedation of aquatic animals, published by Wiley-Blackwell. He is currently managing and partner in long-term projects aimed at exploitation of indigenous species for aquaculture in Mexico.
