Abstract
What does it mean to be ‘silenced’: to have one’s voice, perspective and lived experiences unrecognized, ignored or annulled by self-appointed custodians of ‘the public sphere’ (Habermas 2020)? How must it feel to be rendered invisible, unheard and voiceless in the realms of mainstream media and political discourse, even when one has knowledge or expertise directly relevant to the ‘national (or international) conversations’ of the moment?
