About me

Dr Aileen Ireland is an academic with expertise in professional education and lifelong learning across multiple disciplines. She has a particular interest in the mobilisation of knowledge in the assemblage of research, practice, and education. Her research adopts a critical posthumanist approach to explore the more-than-human practices of professional educators and their use of technologies, enrolling posthuman and sociomaterial methodologies to understand the more-than-human ways in which education practices shift and shape the world. Her research interests also include the use of digital technologies in education practices, storytelling methodologies, and arts-based participatory co-design projects.

Dr Ireland also has a strong interest in promoting social and racial justice through the decolonisation of education practices. Her research has been recognised by the British Educational Research Association, and she is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
