I work primarily in the philosophy of science and the philosophy of physics, especially on questions in statistical mechanics such as 'where does the direction of time come from?' and 'how do higher-level sciences relate to more fundamental sciences?'. Before joining Stirling, I was a postdoc at the University of Birmingham, and before that I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge.
