About me

I joined Stirling as Senior Lecturer in Spanish & Latin American Studies in 2023 having previously worked in University of Glasgow and Queen's University Belfast.

My research explores genders, sexes and sexualities across the Spanish-speaking world, with a particular focus on Argentina.

I have previously taken on a range of administrative roles related to Quality Assurance, Examining, Learning and Teaching and PGRs. I am currently Programme Director for the MSc Gender and Diplomatic Practice, MLitt Genders and Sexualities and MSc Genders and Sexualities.

I am an assistant editor for the Bulletin of Spanish Studies and the Bulletin of Spanish Visual Studies.

Research

My work as a researcher is driven by a preoccupation with marginalised voices and centres around questions of sexes, genders and sexualities. My publications to date cross visual and literary cultures, an approach that stems from my belief that artistic expression, whether in writing or through visual media, allows people to think through the ways in which society is organised and to question assumptions. I have worked extensively on the Borges siblings and have published a monograph dedicated to Norah Borges. At present, I am continuing my research related to women artists working in the Spanish-speaking world and am also currently working on a project on queer Argentine fiction.

I would be happy to supervise students in any of the following areas:

Gender & Sexuality Studies (including Queer Studies)

Visual Cultures (particularly women painters & Latin American cinema)

Latin American literature & culture (20th & 21st Centuries)

The historical avant-garde (Spain and Latin America)
