Abstract
This case outlines the background to a start-up decision by a young graduate entrepreneur. The case depicts David Wares as someone who was 'inclined' towards an entrepreneurial career from his time at university but required the initial 'push' of possible unemployment to start the process going. From this point, the case illustrates the 'pull factors' which can come into play once the initial 'trigger' has been activated. A second factor is the involvement, with David Wares, of two friends who are interested in the venture but whose personal profile is different. The case therefore offers the opportunity to compare and contrast the types of triggers that might lead to the decision to go ahead, or not, with a new business start-up. Attached to the case is the completed business plan for the launch of Display Products Technology Limited.
