Abstract
This article provides a brief overview of humour in health care. A recent study highlighting and innovative approach to humour research and its findings are discussed; the implications for health care interactions generally and in the area of HIV and hepatitis specifically. Finally the function of humour in staff peer groups and patient groups is reviewed.
