Abstract
First paragraph: Nurses are three times more likely on average to experience violence in the workplace than other occupational groups. There is concern that violence in health care is on the increase, and not only in the traditionally ‘high risk' branches of practice. This article explores the health and safety issues, discussing risk assessment and management, training and staff support.
