Abstract
Legislation prohibiting smoking in workplaces and enclosed public places was introduced in England in July 2007. This report outlines existing evidence of the impact of this legislation and places this research in an international context. Evidence now exists of the impact of smokefree legislation on: - exposure to the harmful effects of secondhand smoke (SHS); - changes in health and behaviour following smokefree legislation; and - the impact of smokefree legislation on the hospitality industry.
