Abstract
First paragraph: This paper explores the scenario of Scotland belonging to EMU as an independent country, with the rest of the UK also a member. We consider transitional issues, (the order in which various events occur turns out to be potentially crucial), the implications of Maastricht, the likely effects on the Scottish economy of being in EMU, and finally the policy options open to an independent Scottish government.
