Abstract
First paragraph: Information on biological processes and human activities can be an extremely valuable tool for a protected area manager. Up to date, rigorously obtained information gives the manager a window into the reality of the forces at work within the protected area. Not only does information help a manager determine appropriate plans of action for managing the resources within the protected area, but when used effectively, information also can bring more support to the protected area in the form of increased tourism, scientific research, staffing and funding.
