Abstract
 'About Knowhow' is a boxed set of four books each exploring particular aspects of studio-based learning and teaching:  People and Performance; Places and Materials; Minds Making and Making Research.  These themes are inter-related and combine to from a philosophy of practice - a way of thinking and doing through materials. 'About Knowhow' is the result of an EU-funded Leonardo da Vinci project (2007-2011) that explored learning and teaching strategies employed in art school studios in Iceland, Hungary, Estonia and the United Kingdom. About Knowhow was project-managed by Thora Sigurdardottir and the Reykjavik School of Visual Art, Iceland and included partners from the following institutions: Iceland Academy of the Arts; Estonian Academy of Arts; International Ceramic Studio, Kecskemet, Hungary; Cumbria Institute of the Arts, UK; Glasgow School of Art, UK.
