Abstract
This article reports results from a re-search project that analyzed the types of environmental management practices adopted by leading companies in the Brazilian market. The study sought to systematically categorize the motivations that explain companies’ adoption of certain management practices. It also sought to understand how environmental management practices correlate with the stances (reactive or proactive) that an organization may take with regard to the environment.
