Abstract
A critical commentary on recent developments in the literary and political promotion of the Scots language, as evident in the poetry of Jackie Kay and Stuart A. Paterson. My critique is followed by wider reflections on contemporary Scots from writers including Jenni Fagan, Don Paterson, Alison Miller, Jenny Lindsay, Harry Giles and Kirsten Norrie, concluding with a few backward glances to Hugh MacDiarmid and Tom Leonard.
Keywords
