Abstract
Use of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) is resulting in increased survival rates in patients with cancer. However, the risk of contamination of both surfaces and healthcare workers during the administration and disposal of these powerful drugs can be overlooked. This article describes the evidence on the incidence of contamination during the life cycle of these drugs, the potential routes of exposure and the related adverse events reported in the literature.
