Many learners around the world face educational challenges since their languages are not recognised in classrooms. Dr Tracey Costley and Professor Hannah Gibson from the University of Essex in the UK,
Professor Nancy C. Kula from Leiden University in the Netherlands, Professor Gastor Mapunda from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Dr Colin Reilly from the University of Stirling in the UK are part of a project team that aims to rethink language use in education to better support multilingual communities. A key goal of the team’s work is to explore how students’ multilingualism can be incorporated into teaching.
