About me

I received my BSc and MSc in Mathematics from the St-Petersburg State University, Russia (Department of Applied Mathematics and Control Processes) in 2000. My MSc Dissertation, co-supervised by mathematicians from the St-Petersburg Department of Steklov’s Mathematical Institute, was focused on the approximation of wave behaviour in the diffraction theory applied to the object with curvature jump at the boundary.

I then moved to the UK in 2001 and obtained my PhD from the Loughborough University in 2005. My research was concentrated on inverse problems for boundary value problems on complex bodies. I also continued my collaboration with the Steklov’s Institute, investigating wave behaviour for various complex matrices (interfaces, layers, insertions, etc.) in acoustics, elasticity, as well as electromagnetic media.

In 2006 I received the EPSRC Postdoctoral Fellowship and started independent research at the University of Edinburgh expanding my research fields to control and optimisation problems, with the aim to produce computational scheme for applications in medicine for non-invasive tumour testing and improved tumour destruction protocols.

In 2010 I moved to the University of Glasgow, where I worked for 3 years as a Lecturer in Mathematics. During my stay at the University of Glasgow, I also completed Master's Programme in Academic Teaching and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I joined the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Liverpool Hope University in September 2013. My current research projects are concentrated on different types of wave propagation problems in various media with inhomogeneities.

In August 2018, I joined Computing Science and Mathematics Department at the University of Stirling as a Lecturer in Mathematics.

In addition, since 2000 I am a member of the Organising Committee and also a member of the Editorial Board of the Proceedings of the Annual International Conference 'Days on Diffraction' held in St-Petersburg, Russia.

Presentation on the annual international conference "Days on Diffraction 2021". We consider plane wave diffraction from a prolate body of revolution. The ray field is a solution to Helmholtz equation with either Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions. The field in the illuminated area was used to construct the wave field in the shadow zone. Numerical comparison of the currents and their asymptotics was presented between different zones around the obstacle.

Invited expert at QSP Workshop, Fields Institute, Toronto (online) July 2020
http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/…ystems-modelling
2020 Systems Modelling in the Pharmaceutical Industry - Problem Solving Workshop This workshop aims to equip graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in mathematics and related disciplines with the tools necessary to solve common problems encountered in the pharmaceutical industry. The focus will be on development of pharmacometric skills to approach questions centred on drug development and dose/therapy optimization using a variety of state-of-the-art quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) methodologies. Participants will receive training in QSP approaches, including the principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), from academic and industrial researchers, and will apply these techniques in groups to solve a set of problems brought by industry partners. At the end of the week, participants will be able to identify the main components of a pharmaceutical problem through a QSP lens, translate these elements mathematically, analyze/numerically implement and solve the resulting mathematical model, and deliver results (visually and textually) to non-mathematicians. Ultimately, participants will gain understanding into the factors that are key to mathematical modelling in the pharmaceutical industry and be trained in modern QSP approaches. Due to Covid-19, this year we are holding a virtual seminar event on July 16 12.00-15.00 instead of one-week in-person workshop. Any plans for future one-week workshop in the summer of 2021 will be announced later in the year.
