About me

I’m interested in extracting information from satellite imagery supported by statistical and machine learning algorithms. My PhD focused on the use of multi-temporal and polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data for agricultural fields monitoring. I tried to understand crop and SAR signal interaction, extract fields insights and to develop near-real time crop monitoring and early warning systems.

Currently I am a postdoctoral researcher developing novel methods for near-real time monitoring of surface water extent from SAR imagery. This includes wetland water dynamics monitoring and flood/drought mapping applications. I am also developing the data ingestion and processing chains to make these algorithms operational as part of the SMART and Forth-Era[1] projects.
