Project

Why is immersion in nature so powerful, and how might it be incorporated into substance use treatment/support in Scotland? A co-produced documentary film

Funded by Society for the Study of Addiction.

Greenspace programmes are health programmes undertaken in green areas. Evidence now shows that they could be particularly effective for people with poor mental health, and for people with problem substance use (PSU). Many programmes exist across Scotland, but there are limited examples of how the effectiveness of projects are communicated to those who may benefit. The aim of this project is therefore to co-produce a documentary film of different greenspace initiatives across Scotland to provide a nationwide snapshot of how these programmes can act as a harm reduction method for people who use drugs, for people in recovery, and from a prevention focus.
