See Beyond – See the Lives – Scotland: Phase 2

Funded by Scottish Government.

Collaboration with Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs, Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) and The Salvation Army.

‘See Beyond – See the Lives – Scotland’ is an anti-stigma campaign launched in May 2023. The campaign features a series of short videos with family members and friends who have lost a loved one due to alcohol and/or drug use. By reading personal letters written to their loved one, the family members and friends share intimate stories about who they have lost, express their experiences with stigma, and offer insights into what needs to change to address issues around substance use and mental health. The campaign has been successfully launched across multi-media, including articles in several national newspapers and a high level of engagement across Twitter and the campaign website. Since its launch on 1st May 2023, the website has received 2083 unique visitors. The partners involved in launching the campaign (University of Stirling, Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs, Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems, and The Salvation Army) are now seeking to build on the momentum of this launch, with the aim to reach audiences that may not have engaged through the media, in the form of a series of campaign roadshows.
