Project

Networking nuclear research in Scotland and the UK

Funded by The Scottish Council on Global Affairs.

Collaboration with University of Glasgow.

Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine raised global fears of nuclear escalation and noticeably impacted public attitudes towards nuclear weapons. Amid a resurgent public narrative of deterrence and defence in the UK, the need for academic expertise to inform debate and sustain dialogue where diplomatic channels have stagnated has become ever more pressing. Yet Scotland’s voice, particularly where it concerns Scottish academic expertise and policy analysis has thus far been muted. Our project, submitted to the SCGA Insight Award 2023, is intended to map out Scottish and rUK expertise on nuclear issues to inform policy and seed a new network.

Total award value £2,500.00
