About me

I’m a Lecturer in Psychology. I'm also interested in the history and psychology of art, particularly of drawing, in British mountaineering history, and in scientific approaches to the study of dreams and dreaming. Other InterestsMountaineering, early English watercolour and the music of Thelonious Monk and Jessica Williams all come high.

Research

My main research interests cover the ground traditionally described as the mental development of the young child. In more concrete terms, this amounts to the development of language and other representational systems such as drawing and number and, of course, the development of thought itself and the attentional systems that guide and control all of these activities
