About me
Aliya Zahira is a PhD student in Psychology Department, University of Stirling. Her topic is around Breastfeeding continuation in multiethnic mothers in Scotland. She graduated with MSc in Nutrition and Public Health from Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands in 2019. Before starting her PhD, she took another MSc in Applied Social Research from the University of Stirling as part of her PhD research training from UKRI-ESRC PhD studentship. She is also a certified lactation counsellor in Indonesia.
Research
Aliya is interested in research related to infant feeding especially longer breastfeeding / breastfeeding beyond infancy (breastfeeding beyond 6 months to 2 years or beyond); along with its migration effect in ethnic minority group in Western society and sociocultural factors including the intergenerational and religious factors. She is also interested in infant and maternal health behaviour change, parenting style implications to children's feeding.
