About me
Toby is a medical doctor with a masters in Regenerative Economics. He is currently undertaking a PhD on ecological health and local food networks under the supervision of Dr Tony Robertson. Their work aims to assess how a Relational Determinants of Health view would transform food systems, working with the microbiome as a witness to structural violence. and a possible indicator of ecological health equity.
Toby's work alongside the PhD assesses the health equity impacts of international trade with Prof Alison McCallum. Through policy analysis, they have shown barriers and opportunities for achieving global vaccine equity, using COVID-19 vaccination as a case study to assess trade policymaking as a Commercial Determinant of Health. The team now hopes to collaborate on a critical One Health policy process for Global Public Goods in trade agreements.
