About me
I'm a PhD TESOL Research candidate. I studied at the University of Birmingham for an MA in Applied Linguistics with TESOL 2021-2022. After starting my teaching career lecturing in FE and HE and tutoring English in the UK, I taught TESOL in South Korea 2009-2019. Prior to my ESL teaching expedition, I graduated from the University of Surey with a BA (Hons) in Dance & Culture (2000) and an MA in Dance Research (2004). Over the years I have had my work, mostly dance critcism, published in various journals and magazines. I was selected as a runner-up for the Anthony Burgess International Prize for Arts Criticism in February 2023 and had my short review of the V&A's Hallyu exhibition published in The Guardian online. My first peer-reviewed academic article, a short report version of my MA research into Korean language loanwords in the English lexicon, was published in KOTESOL (Korea TESOL) Journal 19(1) in September 2023.
