John 'Matthew' Sutherland is an ESRC funded second year Doctoral Researcher within the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Stirling. He started his career in education as a teacher of Physical Education, working in a number of secondary schools in Scotland and Spain. He has previously completed a MSc in Applied Social Research, MSc in Outdoor Education and a BEd with Honours in Physical Education.
His PhD research critically explores the narrowing of the secondary school curriculum and its impact on subject choices, qualifications and attainment of young people in Scotland.
