About me
I graduated with BA Sport in the Community from the Scottish School of Physical Education in 1991 and a PGCert (Physical Education & English ) from the University of Exeter 1992. I hold a PGDip (Exercise and Health Science) from Strathclyde University and a MSc (Performance Coaching) from Stirling University. Upon graduating in 1992 I became a PE teacher (for profound learning difficulties) and then began a lecturing career that has spanned 28 years and has included 3 Further Education Colleges between 1993-2003. My university lecturing profile began in 2003 and includes programme leader University West Scotland Sport Studies; programme leader Glasgow Caledonian University Sport Management; associate lecturer in Sports Science & Sport & Physical Activity Strathclyde University. My post at Stirling University started 2020 when I joined the Faculty of Health Sciences Sport as a lecturer https://www.stir.ac.uk/about/faculties/health-sciences-sport/
In this role I am the module co-ordinator on the MSc Sport Management programme https://www.stir.ac.uk/courses/pg-taught/sport/sport-management/ and also contribute to the delivery of a number of modules on Sports Studies https://www.stir.ac.uk/courses/ug/sport/sports-studies/ I am also the Employability champion for the department of Sport

Research
My research interests are varied and include management & structure within football, mentoring in sport and coach education/careers Examples include recording the experiences of stakeholders at elite and academy level football ( players, coaches, parents On-going research also includes examining the characteristics and merits of mentoring with reference to sporting careers and communities of practice
