About me

Tom is a PhD student in the Faculty of Social Sciences. His PhD investigates how charities use and trust Scottish government data and is supervised by Dr Alasdair Rutherford and Dr Vikki McCall.

He graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2012 with a Master of Arts in Politics, and from the University of Stirling in 2014 with an MSc in Applied Social Research.

Research

Tom has interests across social and political science in areas such as sociology, politics, and social policy. His specific areas of specialisation are in third sector research, immigration, electoral systems, and political parties.

Tom's primary methods are quantitative and include; network analysis and modelling, longitudinal/panel analysis, multilevel modelling, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and data visualisation techniques.
