Neil’s research interests lie in climate and environmental justice, forced migration and displacement, refugee rights and policy, gender and sexuality, urbanism and cities, humanitarian politics, and East Africa.

Neil is the module convenor for 'Global Climate Justice' (undergraduate, Honours-level) and 'Intersectional Climate Action and Justice' (postgraduate).

Neil also contributes to a number of other modules, including: 'Research Methods in Politics' (undergraduate, Honours-level), 'Researching International Politics' (postgraduate), 'Human Rights and Climate Change' (postgraduate), and 'Migrants, Refugees and Diasporas – Conflict and Coexistence' (postgraduate).
