"Before joining the Access Course, I mostly worked in factories and laboured in construction amongst other things. I also did volunteer work for local charities and always got involved with the community in some capacity.
"I found myself seeking something new, as I never felt completely happy in my jobs and was looking for a change. I had a few role models in my life who were older than me and came from the same background as me. A few of them went to education later in life, which helped me realise that further education could possibly give me more opportunities and open more doors.
"Ultimately, the Access Course is a place where you learn to learn and gain skills that are necessary for Academic learning. This was useful as I felt it gave me a head start for my undergraduate degree course.”
