MSc Health Psychology
Scotland
I chose the MSc Health Psychology to further my knowledge and practical understanding of behaviour change and the issues related to the psychology of our health and wellbeing. The course offered both theoretical knowledge and practical real world examples, which armed me with the ability to critically evaluate our current understanding of our health behaviours and the ability to conduct scientifically rigorous research.
As an individual with dyslexia, the university has supported me in all aspects of my learning and made the process as stress-free as possible. They have an understanding that we all learn in different ways, supporting and encouraging me to challenge my preconceptions of what I think I can do. The interaction with the classmates on my course challenged me to do the best I can, but at the same time offered a caring support network. The University of Stirling attracts people from all over the world and the course has allowed me to interact with many nationalities both within the classroom and socially.
I am currently working as a mental health practitioner for SAMH where I promote and encourage positive health behaviours. This course sets you apart from other applicants in the job market. It has made me more employable through the understanding of the complexities of our health and the challenges healthcare providers face in promoting health and ensuring a healthy population.
