MSc Investment Analysis
Kenya
MSc Investment Analysis is a thoughtfully designed course that creates a striking balance between industry practice and research. The benefits of studying at Stirling were that we regularly had lectures presented by industry experts, participated in simulated trading competitions, attended seminars and got access to plenty of academic and research resources. As a CFA-accredited course, students were well exposed to the CFA material and there was financial support to cover partial fees for the exams which students could apply to. The international network and hands-on skills acquired through the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) are worth mentioning.
What I liked most about the course was that I had a personal supervisor who held my hand throughout my journey to secure a fully funded PhD. Given that he always maintained an open office policy, the mentorship and support I received not only helped me excel in my studies but also adapt easily to a new learning environment.
I am currently undertaking doctoral studies to extend my MSc Research. My degree will not only help me make informed and strategic investment decisions but also place me strategically in a position to positively contribute to policy formulation that will impact the community and the financial system.
The campus setting played a significant role in choosing the University of Stirling. It is strategically placed in an easily accessible place by both road and rail. I would describe it as one of the most beautiful campuses I have ever been to, in my view. The loch gives the place stunning beauty, the view of Dumyat hill is elegant, and most importantly, there is plenty of space to relax, brainstorm and unwind while walking/jogging to get a feel of the fresh air. Thinking about the place is just refreshing.
To prospective students considering Stirling, Stirling isn’t just a university; it is a community, and you will definitely feel like you are part of it from your first day there.
In November 2023, Omae was awarded the Walter Scott Global Asset Management Prize for best student on the MSc Investment Analysis course.
