Julie Albiston
BSc Adult Nursing
United Kingdom
Having left school at 16, Julie has been working as a medical secretary for over 20 years and is now studying BSc Adult Nursing.
“I was quite happy in my job as a medical secretary, but started feeling like there was something missing - a sense of purpose - and I thought about what profession might give me a sense of fulfilment.
“I am so glad I did the Access Course before starting my degree, as I felt like I had a head start in comparison to other students just starting at the University level.
“Going into the first year of my Adult Nursing degree, I received help and advice from the University and found out that I had a learning disability. Due to that, I was able to get support following an assessment which allows me extra time with exams and access to a study tutor. The University really wants you to succeed.“
