Dongliang's Story

Dongliang Li, from China, chose the University of Stirling because of its excellent reputation for Sports Studies.

"Studying here at Stirling, and also this course, will definitely help me with my future career because I have acquired all the knowledge about how to be a sports psychologist," he said.

"The facilities in this University are awesome. I particularly enjoy the swimming pool, and also all the sports equipment in the gym is state-of-the-art.

"I have also improved my English, which is quite an important aspect of having a successful career, even in China."

However, he admits it wasn't as easy as he thought it was going to be when he first arrived at Stirling.

"Before I got here, I was pretty confident about my English but when I arrived I found that some Scottish people had very strong accents and they tended to speak very, very fast.

"Sometimes I just couldn't follow them, and I was worried that the same things might happen during my studying, but luckily the teachers tended to explain things very clearly."

He said studying abroad has helped him broaden his horizons , get out of his comfort zone for one year and become more independent.

"The most rewarding aspect of my time here is that I have made a lot of international friends and have got to know the culture here," he said.

"I would definitely recommend the University to other students."
