Denise's Story
After attending the Vienna Business School, Denise Kaufmann left Austria to study at Stirling, having fallen in love with the University while on holiday.
“My grandma is Scottish, so we always spent our summers here,” Denise said. “During one trip, we visited the University and I immediately loved the campus. After further research, I was also attracted by the fact that the degree combinations were so flexible and thought it would be the perfect place to further my knowledge, and provide a great stepping stone for my future career.”
Denise became Vice President of the Business Society, Faculty Officer for Marketing and Retail, and took advantage of the Santander Internship programme, which allowed her to work part-time at an independent financial advisers.
As well as gaining practical work experience, Denise completed a semester abroad, spending part of her third year at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. “Studying in Canada’s Capital was an amazing experience, with lots of ups and downs, including getting up in -40 degrees to attend lectures,” she said.
Denise is now looking forward to earning professional accountancy qualifications with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
