Aislinn's Story
Aislinn is a 3rd year student from Ballymena in Northern Ireland, studying Criminology and Sociology. Aislinn became interested in the University of Stirling when Scottish Universities came to present at her school.
She says “I knew I’d like to move away from home to go to University; Stirling with its beautiful campus looked perfect and far enough away for me to feel independent. I immediately went to my Careers Adviser and asked for a prospectus. The reputation of the course was also really important to me; to know that Criminology is 1st in Scotland and Top 10 in the UK made my decision very easy.”
Aislinn came to an Open Day at Stirling and found that it offered a welcoming community, just like home; a friendly Student Ambassador told her all about life at Stirling, and she immediately realised she wouldn’t be home sick. Today Aislinn is a Student Ambassador herself, helping prospective students learn about our community, our facilities and what the experience is going to be like.
Aislinn spent her first year in student accommodation on campus and adds “I made 24 new friends straight away, from England, America, Scotland and Northern Ireland too! I now live in the City and it’s like a mini Edinburgh, there’s everything you could want, but closer together.”
