Tennis courts

With six state-of-the-art tennis courts, we're home to the National Tennis Centre and one of the biggest indoor tennis facilities in the UK.  As proud partners of Tennis Scotland, we provide pathways and first-class training facilities for children and adults. The centre caters for a range of accredited services whether you're a beginner or a high-performance athlete.

Tennis court information

Courts 1-4

  • Bleacher seating available for spectators.
  • All courts have digital scoreboards installed.
  • Nets can be taken down for testing.
  • Tennis changing facilities and toilets available (including accessible toilet).

Courts 5-6

  • Access courts via squash corridor (you must have an access card to enter courts).
  • No fixed spectating seats.
  • Nets can be taken down if required.

Tennis racquets and balls available to hire from reception.

Tennis court booking information

Check out our app or online portal for court availability and bookings. Find out more about how to book.

  • Bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance.
  • Bookings are made on account of one person, the main booker.
  • Courts are booked by the hour and available to members and non-members.
  • Non-members must create a pay-as-you-go account through our membership portal before booking.
  • Sessions are non-refundable.

Group bookings

The tennis courts are available for hire by external tennis clubs or any group and block bookings. Email sportbookings@stir.ac.uk with your request.

On arrival

  • Any guest, without a valid membership, must report to reception on arrival to be granted access, providing the name of the main booker.
  • If you are using the cafe or another facility before your session, please advise reception to record your attendance.
  • Please enter through the main gates at reception using your student, staff or membership card (new members and casual users will be given a card on their first visit).
  • If you're booking is on Courts 1 - 4, please enter via the main tennis hall at the bottom of the stairs on Level 1.
  • If you are booked on Courts 5 or 6, please turn right at the bottom of the stairs and follow the signage to Courts 5 and 6.
