Graduation car parking

The University’s Winter Graduation ceremonies will take place on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 November. Details, including ceremony times, are available on our graduation webpages.

Everyone attending graduation is advised to plan travel in advance. There are roadworks on the A9 through Bridge of Allan. Please give yourself plenty of time to reach campus. Alternative routes to campus are available by leaving the M9 at Junction 10 (Craigforth Interchange) or by taking the turn off for Stirling Services, and following signs for Causewayhead/University of Stirling.

Graduation attracts hundreds of additional people to campus and these ceremonies will be the highest attended winter ceremonies in five years. As such, traffic to and from campus, and the demand for car parking, will be exceptionally high across both days and there will be inevitable disruption particularly prior to and immediately following the ceremonies.

To enable graduating students and their guests to park on graduation days, the majority of car parks will be reserved for event attendees. Please note, the following car parks will be unavailable to staff, students and visitors to campus:

  • Thursday 21 November: Cottrell, East and Logie car parks
  • Friday 22 November: Cottrell, East, Logie and South car parks

Please see our guidance below for travelling to campus and car parking on both days.

For general guidance on getting to campus – including public transport options – please visit our dedicated webpage for more information on getting to campus.

Graduating students and guests

Reserved car parking will be available to graduating students and their guests and members of our security team will be on hand to direct you to spaces.

Please give yourself plenty of time to arrive on campus ahead of your ceremony as traffic will be exceptionally high and delays should be expected.

Those commuting by car with an official blue badge, or a temporary orange accessible permit will have access to designated disabled bays.

Staff

With the pressure on car parking, where appropriate, staff should work with their line managers to consider whether working patterns, including the potential for homeworking, can be accommodated in line with business need over these two days.

Those who are required to be on campus, and who normally commute by car, are asked to make alternative travel arrangements, such as using public transport, and allow additional travel time. Those with an official blue badge, or a temporary orange accessible permit will continue to have access to designated disabled bays.

Students

Students are advised that campus will be significantly busier than usual on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 November and are encouraged to use public transport, where possible, and to allow additional travel time to/from campus.
