The former General Manager of the historic Dunblane Hydro Hotel is settling into his new role as Director of Commercial Services at the University of Stirling.
Liam Spillane (40) heads up a new Commercial Services Directorate – which includes the award-winning Stirling Management Centre, commercial services, and the provision of University catering. He took up his position earlier this month.
Mr Spillane said he was delighted to join the team at Stirling. “It’s a wonderful institution with great links into the local community and business sector.
“I’m excited about my role and the opportunity it presents to build on the University’s success to date – and to improve on what we offer to staff and students, and to businesses using University facilities.”
He added: “I’ve have had a fantastic welcome from staff and this has really helped me settle into the new post.”
Mr Spillane has over twenty years’ experience in corporate hotels in both national and international roles across the Hilton Hotels Corporation and Intercontinental Hotel Group.
He has previously held senior roles at Hilton’s Edinburgh Airport Hotel and the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow. He was also Director of Operations at the Hilton Sharks Bay Resort in Egypt.
A graduate of the University of Ulster, he has also served as a charitable trustee and was a director of Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce. Liam is married to Jacqueline and they have two children. The family live in North Lanarkshire.
