Santander opened a new branch at the University of Stirling campus on 12 February.
Staff from both organisations gathered to watch as Stirling’s Professor Gerry McCormac, Principal and Vice-chancellor, joined Santander representatives Stuart Boyd, branch manager, and David Mackay, Divisional Managing Director for Retail, in cutting the ribbon to launch the new branch.
The branch, located in the Atrium, will provide a full range of banking and financial services to the campus community. Both students and staff will be able to open accounts from the Santander product range, including current accounts, credit cards, savings and investments.
Professor Gerry McCormac, who welcomed guests to the event, said: “The opening of this branch signals another stage in our on-going partnership with Santander.
“Our membership of the extensive global Santander Universities network across America, Asia and Europe enables students and staff at Stirling to benefit from excellent exchange and study opportunities - enhancing the student experience and contributing to our Internationalisation strategy.”
Branch Manager, Stuart Boyd, said: “This is a very exciting day for us and we are very much looking forward to being a part of the University of Stirling community. Students and staff are welcome to come and speak to me or one of my colleagues for banking advice or to find out more about the deals we have on offer.”
David Mackay, Divisional Managing Director for Retail, commented: “We are delighted with the relationship we’re developing with Stirling and look forward to the future success of this partnership.”
Santander has been working with UK universities since 2007, signing agreements to provide funding for scholarships, mobility grants and special projects. Since 1997, Santander has signed agreements with over 1000 universities in 20 countries worldwide, with the aim to support higher education as a means to contribute to the development and prosperity of society.

These interns will be hosted by local small and medium sized firms, including Devine Property, DogF.sh, and VC2 Brands - all companies based in the Stirling area.
The opening hours of the new branch are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 10.00am to 6.00pm; Wednesday: 10.00am to 5.00pm.
