Back to news

Lecturers and teaching fellows from the University of Stirling will take part in an information evening for prospective postgraduates at the University’s Highland campus in Inverness on Wednesday 1 June from 7pm to 9pm.

The event is free to anyone who would like to know more about taking postgraduate courses at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health at the University, with the opportunity to remain based in the Highlands.

University staff will give short talks on the different Masters and doctorate programmes available, highlighting what these programmes involve and what is required to take part. There will also be opportunities to speak to staff afterwards over coffee.

Dr Iain Atherton, lecturer in Adult Nursing, said: “The University of Stirling provides exciting opportunities to study at postgraduate level, led by people for whom research is central to their daily work. Our students include many based in the Highlands.”

With a thriving research culture, the Highland campus is an exciting environment for postgraduate students, whose work is influential in benefitting the health of those who live in the local community and throughout Scotland and the UK.

Dr Annetta Smith, Assistant Head of School at the Western Isles and Highland campuses, says: “The focus of study on relevant health issues continues to inform how health care is planned, managed and delivered in the Highlands and Islands and has the potential to enhance that care.”

Situated in the grounds of Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, the Highland campus has state of the art teaching accommodation, boosted by the world-class Centre for Health Science. Facilities for students include the Highland Health Sciences Library, which caters for students, staff and NHS employees.

The information evening on postgraduate study takes place on Wednesday 1 June at 7pm in the Centre for Health Science at Raigmore hospital in Inverness. The evening is free to all and all are welcome.
