Academic dress
All graduands must wear a University of Stirling academic gown and hood appropriate to the award to be conferred if they wish to attend the ceremony.
The University works with Ede and Ravenscroft to ensure that appropriate academic dress is readily available to all graduands. If you choose to order academic dress from Ede and Ravenscroft, you’ll need to do this at least two weeks before your ceremony. Ede & Ravenscroft will have a limited number of gowns available to hire on the day, but a late order may incur an additional fee so make sure you order in time.
Mortar boards
Mortar boards are not part of the academic dress and will not be permitted during the ceremony.

Dress code
Graduation ceremonies are a formal, ceremonial occasion and we ask that graduands and their guests dress formally for the occasion.
For graduands, a buttoned shirt or blouse is useful for securing their gown's hood. Graduands and guests are welcome to wear national, traditional or military dress if relevant. This always looks fantastic.
