Miniature Horse Therapy

Join us outside Haldane’s (grass area) between 12:00 and 14:00 to experience Miniature Horse Therapy first-hand, brought to campus by Lunar Eclipse EFL Therapy Horses CIC as part of the Be Connected programme, available to all students and staff.

Lunar Eclipse is a non-profit organisation dedicated to harnessing the profound connection between humans and horses to foster healing, learning, and personal growth. Central to their mission is their diverse herd, affectionately known as the Hoofgang™. This group comprises ten equines, including miniature horses, ponies, and full-sized horses, each bringing unique qualities to the team. Their empathetic nature creates a safe and nurturing environment, allowing individuals to explore their emotions, build trust, and develop confidence.

Engaging with horses can lead to improved self-esteem, enhanced emotional regulation, and reduced stress levels. The act of grooming, feeding, and caring for these animals fosters a sense of responsibility and accomplishment, which is particularly beneficial for individuals facing mental health challenges! These dates are the beginning of a new partnership with the University and have been designed around exam period.

The miniature horses will be on campus for a limited time so please be advised that therapy will be allocated to small groups. We ask that you please sign up to indicate numbers but advise that allocation will be on a first-come, first-served, basis with approximately 5 minutes for interaction and photographs. The queue to meet and greet a mini horse will run around the small loch from Haldane's outdoor entrance.

We expect this to be a well-attended event so please pop down early and be prepared to wait in a queue. We will do our best to accommodate as many people as possible within the two hours for each session but please be aware that interaction with the mini horses is not guaranteed.
