Annual Festive Fun Day
On Thursday 28 November, join us in the Atrium from 12:00 for a day of festive fun and a nod to Thanksgiving Day as part of our BeConnected programme (free community building activities for students and staff). Expect free nibbles and sweet treats, get crafty with a range of activities, and enjoy festive games.
Thanksgiving is an annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year. The American holiday is particularly rich in legend and symbolism with traditional feasts including turkey and pumpkin pie!
As part of this event, we will also be holding a 'decorate a donation box' station to support festive donations to Women's Aid. This initiative is being led by student Sophie Millett, in partnership with the Students Union and Be Connected programme, so do come along, have some fun and create a masterpiece!
To help fill these boxes, we are also looking for new item donations such as:
- tea/coffee/hot chocolate, biscuits/crackers, chocolates/sweets, Xmas pudding/pies;
- cosy blankets/cosy socks/ladies' pjs/slippers;
- colouring pens and pencils, mindfulness colouring books;
- essential toiletries: Shampoo/conditioner, shower gel, liquid soap, toothbrushes, deodorants, children's shampoo, bubble bath;
- luxury toiletries: (these are given to women at Christmas and also in welcome packs when women arrive in refuge to allow them some self-care) body cream, face cream, cleanser, face masks, nail polish, perfume/body sprays, nail files, eye creams, hand cream, makeup, hair towels, hair accessories, hair masks.
These can be handed in on the day or into the library, student hub, sport reception, main reception or Student Union office anytime between 28 November and 12 December.
