Working together to improve air quality: case studies from the UK and Kenya
Presented by Dr Heather Price.
Abstract
In this seminar I will discuss various interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research projects where we have worked with the public and other air quality actors in the UK and Kenya to raise awareness of air pollution, encourage behaviour changes and support people to advocate for clean(er) air.
I will explain how the learning from past projects has been integrated into the air quality work being undertaken in the City Region Deal funded Forth Environmental Resilience Array (Forth-ERA) project. Forth-ERA is a living laboratory providing environmental data and analytics, which aims to facilitate world-leading scientific research, promote more efficient environmental management and regulation, and stimulate business innovation in support of Scotland’s transition to a net zero carbon society.
Speaker: Dr Heather Price
Heather Price is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Geography at the University of Stirling and UKRI Regional Clean Air Champion for Scotland. Her research aims to find new and creative ways to reduce air pollution and improve people’s health. Though trained as an environmental scientist, Heather now works in a more interdisciplinary way, and much of her work is transdisciplinary (i.e. takes a collaborative approach with stakeholders (including the public) integrated into the research from the outset).
