External Quality Enhancement Framework
As part of its statutory responsibilities, the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) is required to make provision for the assessment of teaching and learning. Since 1997 it has contracted this responsibility to the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).
The External Quality Enhancement Framework developed by SFC and the QAA includes:
- institutional level review by the QAA on a four year cycle;
- subject review run by institutions themselves;
- public information on quality;
- student participation
- a national programme of enhancement themes to share good practice in teaching and learning.
