Karen Lawson
Executive Director of Human Resources and Organisation Development
Karen Lawson was appointed Executive Director of Human Resources and Organisation Development in May 2021, having previously held the posts of Head of HR Services and Deputy Director of Human Resources and Organisation Development at the University of Stirling. She joined Stirling in 2002 and has led a number of strategic change projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Prior to this, Karen held a number of roles in human resources at Strathclyde Police and Stirling Council.
Karen is a graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University, and has significant experience in the higher education sector and is part of the Universities HR Scotland and UK networks. A personal and career highlight was being selected to participate in the Banco Santander Women’s W30 leadership programme at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management in 2015.
Responsibilities
The Human Resources and Organisation Development directorate is responsible for providing HR Services, Business Partnering and Staff Development. It is responsible for developing people processes, systems and strategies that enable and support the delivery of strategic plans, organisation growth and high performance.
