SCRCM Knowledge Exchange

The Stirling Centre for Research into Curriculum Making (SCRCM) connects researchers in curriculum-making with practitioners, drawing on the expertise and experiences of both to deliver lasting research-informed improvements.

Aims and vision

We have four guiding principles which ensure that the Knowledge Exchange work that we offer is distinctive and transformative.

Independence

The Stirling Centre for Curriculum Making research is independent of local or national government and  can challenge and critique both policy and the educational assumptions that might underlie these policies. This gives the centre the opportunity to explore with stakeholders questions which might not otherwise be asked.

Grounding in research

The centre starts from the principle that educational questions are complex and simple responses to complex questions can never be helpful. The centre, therefore, presents educational questions as contested and encourages stakeholders to contribute to this contestation and explore the implications of this practice.

Breadth

Most curriculum-making support has a narrow focus on a small number of deliverable outcomes, the SCRCM is a looser network that can connect a broader range of expertise and experience to a broader range of demands.

Collaborative working for lasting change

The SCRCM does not 'deliver CPD' and is, instead, interested in long-term sustainable impact and is ready to work over the longer term to develop deeper and lasting change through collaborative working, including critical collaborative enquiry.
