Social Surveys and Social Statistics Research Group
We bring together researchers focusing on the analysis of large and complex statistical datasets to understand a wide range of social phenomena and social problems.
Our expertise supports the Faculty for Social Sciences's research centres. The group’s strategic priority is to contribute to high quality applied and methodological research related to the analysis of statistical datasets.
Group members have expertise in the organisation, and model-based analysis, of large-scale secondary datasets from social surveys and from administrative/by-product sources. They also develop their own substantive empirical research in a number of areas notably
- social stratification
- social networks
- education and inequality
- demography and social care
- ethnicity and immigration
Group members also play critical roles in providing empirical research support to larger projects and as part of wider multi-disciplinary and cross-institutional teams.
