Cold War Environments
Cold War Environments: Infrastructure, Landscape, and Material Culture in the UK's Gun Belt
Professor Holger Nehring is currently developing a new project that looks at the Cold War as war. As part of this, he is interested in the geography and environmental history of the Cold War, especially in Scotland, the United Kingdom's gun and missile belt: how did the Cold War manifest itself in Scotland's infrastructure and environment? How did missile bases, radar stations, bunkers, and other military installations influence experiences of the Cold War in Scotland? And what are the implications of this for the memory and legacy of the Cold War?
